40. Joining the Board of the Elgin St. Thomas Community Foundation

A few years ago, I used to work in Corporate Finance.

I loved my job as a Finance Manager – great learning, fun people, good perks. But one of the things I struggled with was a sense of fulfillment.

We helped the organization and its shareholders generate $, but what happened afterward? That felt like a loop that wasn't closed.

Six years later, I feel like I'm beginning to close the loop.

I have got some exciting news to share—I recently was appointed to the Board of Directors at the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation.

This is my first time being on a board, and I could not be more thrilled! The Foundation connects money with local needs, tackling issues like mental health, women's safety, affordable housing, and homelessness. It is all about helping people make a lasting impact with their donations.

While this is my first board appointment, I am not entirely new to the world of boards. I have served many boards as a consultant and also received great training from the Australian Institute of Corporate Directors in 2020 and the WIMBIZ Women on Boards Mentoring Program in 2021. These experiences have really prepared me for this new role.

I am ready to dive in and look forward to helping the Foundation continue its great work in our community.
